Hooray Mirrah Foulkes for the amazing reviews of her debut feature Judy & Punch making its premiere at Sundance Film Festival:

“it’s a testament to Foulkes’ confidence as a director and to the world she has created that this outlandish story sits as comfortably as it does in film....it is this one off status that should make this a festival success..and cult item theatrically.”

Congratulations and huge thanks to composer Francois Tetaz for having me perform and compose for his stunning film soundtrack. Go see this movie, MWA

Mingus by Joni Mitchell had a huge impact on me as a singer and young defecting jazzbo in my teens. It was free, volatile, complex and so, so beautiful. The record was the final collaboration for Charles Mingus just before he passed in 1979, with Jaco Pastorius and Joni floating in mellifluous beauty.

I am performing a piece from this album tomorrow night in New York city to mark Joni’s 75th Birthday, amongst an amazing line-up of artists. 8:30PM at Public Arts on Christie St.

Bring in the mid-term results soaked in some Joni ❤️🍂🏛⚖️ xo http://jonimitchell.com/news/newsitem.cfm?id=1246

very honoured to be performing the first live interpretations of Ursula K Leguin’s 1985 album ‘Music and Poetry of the Kesh’ - created by Ursula with buchla master Todd Barton as a soundtrack to her novel ‘Always Coming Home” published the same year. Sincere thanks to Rvng Intl. and @mattwerth for having me musical direct and perform with a beautiful ensemble of unique musicians to interpret Ursula’s world: Okwui Okpokwasili, Judith Berkson, Corey Fogel, Sara Serpa and Todd Barton himself! We perform October 2 at National Sawdust New York as a part of @rvngintl’s FRKWYS Vol 14, on a double bill with NUE featuring Yoshi Wada and Tashi Wada and Julia Holter. X comen

friends and friends of friends in DC, Baltimore and the surrounds, I am running a workshop this Monday evening in Columbia Maryland for a new commission premiering at the OPUS Merriweather Festival at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in October. The workshop is open-call, vocal work and performance, exploring different methods for a new mass choral work - it will be fun, safe and massaging of all things. PLEASE come along and pass this on to folks who might want to attend. Tag/DM me for details. This Monday, love SBrous

oh how I love this venue. Playing the stunning Elizabeth Murdoch Hall of the Melbourne Recital Centre tonight with my dear illustrious friend Mick Harvey in his beautiful Serge Gainsbourg homage ‘Intoxicated Man’, featuring an incredible band, string section and fellow banshees Xanthe Waite and Jess Ribeiro. It’s so good to sing this music again with Mick man x Still a few tickets left I’m told, 8pm.
